Sweet Savannah

Yesterday I was scrapbooking (amazing in itself that I had time to do this). I realized that somehow my corner rounder had gotten knocked off the table into the garbage and was now at the dump. (Lesson to myself...push everything way back so little hands won't be accidentally throwing stuff away) I was very frustrated because I loved that corner rounder. Well Savannah was sitting there and hears me being frustrated. She asks (picture a cute little 2-year-old voice) "You okay Mama? Why are you sad?" I told her what had happened. She said "It's okay. I help you feel better." She smiles sweet and comes over to give me a big hug. She then goes back and says "Okay, are you happy now? Feel better?"

And that is why I love having kids.

Our weekend...

This past weekend was busy, but fun. Dallin and I went to the temple in San Antonio on Saturday (for our church). Our friends, the Corbetts, watched the kids. Their kids are almost the exact same ages as Zach, Savannah & Connor...she said it was like having three sets of twins, plus Jacob. We left about 7:15 am and got back about 3:00pm. Then Jacob had a basketball game, which our whole family went to (they only lost by 2 points this time...much, much better). Connor loved all the excitement and clapped whenever he saw other people clapping.

Connor figured out how to open kitchen cupboards over the last week...fun for me. Luckily he's not too interested yet. I may just have to break down and childproof again.

Yesterday Jacob was home for the holiday. It rained the whole day, so we used a coupon for some free tokens and played games at Chuck E. Cheese. Jacob is really into jets right now and they have a game that is like a fighter jet simulator (it moves around and everything). He was in heaven.

This morning I got a call from the school nurse to come and pick up Jacob. He has a fever and a bad headache...luckily no flu...yet. Apparently it's going around at the school.
Savannah had her friend M over to play this morning too. They had lots of fun coloring Dora and taking their animals "shopping."
It's 39 degrees (feels like 32 degrees) with 81% humidity...it's freezing cold!!!!! And this is the middle of the afternoon. At least we haven't had an ice storm yet this year.

Weather wimp

I am a weather wimp. Right now it's 42 degrees outside, but weather.com says it feels like 36 degrees. I think it feels like 20 degrees. It's 4:30 pm and I just went to put the garbages on the sidewalk. I wore my heaviest jacket, gloves, a knit headcover and the hood of my jacket. The teenage girl that was walking past looked at me like I was a freak (I'm sure I kinda looked like one). Well I've lived in Arizona my whole life...what can I say.

Jacob's first basketball game

Jacob had his first basketball game on Saturday! He had a great time running back and forth down the court. In his words "The other team scored a lot more baskets" but he was just happy that he has basketball two times a week now.

Fun stuff...

Well these are just some random pictures from the last couple of days. Savannah figured out that if she sits close enough to Connor he can roll the ball back to her...what a nice break for Mommy (rolling the ball is one of Savannah's favorite things right now). Connor LOVES to walk around with Jacob. Jacob is such a great big brother to all the kids. Yesterday I found Connor sitting in Savannah's basket in the playroom. I have no idea how he got himself in there without tipping it over. He was having the greatest time with all of her stuff (luckily she didn't see him or he would've been dumped out of there real quick). Connor also discovered the piano (it's usually closed) and banged away for quite a while. I let Savannah make a fruit loop necklace yesterday too. She'd never done anything like that and it kept her busy for almost an hour. Well Zach told me he wanted to too...but he sneaked more fruit loops into his mouth than onto his necklace.

Our little walkin' man

Connor has started walking!!! He can still only go from one couch to the other or a few steps to someone, but he's so proud of himself. He's by far our earliest walker. Savannah loves to have him walk to her and is so amazed by it. As you can see he walks with his arms out or high above his head. Then he dives when he reaches his goal. He's such a fun kid!

Chunky Cheese

Today the older kids and I went to a birthday party for their friend J.D. at Chuck E. Cheese. They had a great time (except Savannah was terrified of "Chuck" when he came out in costume). Our whole family was invited but Connor has had a fever yesterday and today, so Dallin stayed home with him...I think he's teething. He's napped more in the last 2 days than he normally does in a whole week! Anyhow, the whole way to the party Zach kept saying how excited he was to go to Chuck-A-Cheese. Then the whole way home he said how fun it was to play at Chunky Cheese.

Dallin went back to work on Wednesday (Jan. 2) and the kids and I have been hanging out together. It's been pretty cold, but we did venture out to the "lake" by our house to feed the ducks. When all their hands started turning purple I decided it was time to head home. Today it's almost warm outside though (gotta love Texas weather...freezing one day and hot the next). Jacob has been playing "army" a lot lately. Yesterday I taught him how to play Risk. It'll be a while before he'll really understand the strategy and stuff, but we had fun and he loved "battling."
