May Random Pics

Zach loved the monkey bars the last few months of school.  He had crazy bruises like this on his shin almost constantly.
Landon's favorite treat by far is chocolate.  He loves anything chocolate, and will sometimes even refuse a treat if it isn't chocolate.  (Funny side note - He will not eat ice cream or anything cold like popsicles though, even chocolate.)  When I give him 3 or 4 Hershey Kisses he will methodically unwrap each one and line them up in a row.  Only after they are all in a row will he start to eat them.
Waiting for the kids to come home from school...
 He spots Savannah & Connor...
...and tries to get their attention.  That is his favorite part of the day.
Zach's backpack always weighs a ton, but I'd always assumed it's because he checks out these huge, heavy encyclopedia books from the school library and insists on carrying them to and from school every day.  On the last day of school I was cleaning out all their backpacks and discovered this pocket that I'd never looked in.  This picture does not do it justice, this is over 8 lbs. of rocks.  He'd been collecting them for the entire school year and never took them out.
Connor with his nightly line-up of reptiles to sleep with.
The 4th Grade did the "egg project" at the end of the school year.  Zach named his egg "Wilbert" and painted him like a pig.  He survived for the entire 2 or 3 day project.
We're excited for summer!!!

Connor's Kindergarten Graduation

Connor was so proud to "graduate" from kindergarten.  They had a very short program and then a little party afterward in his classroom.  Connor chose to come home right after since those who stayed just got to help clean the classroom.  As soon as we walked out of the school he yelled "I'm a 1st grader now!!!"
Connor and the principal, Ms. Hildebrand
Connor and the girls at his table.  He was lucky to already know 4 kids in his class when school started, and he quickly made friends with the rest of his class.  Brynn & Brooklyn he already knew from church, and Angela became his Accelerated Reading buddy.
Alex lives down the street from us and is Connor's best friend right now.  Alex has a big sister who has been in Savannah's class for the last two years, so we have lots of play dates.
Elijah was Connor's other reading group buddy and Asher has been his friend at church since they were born.
 Thank you Mrs. Burgess!

Memorial Day Swim

Memorial Day morning I spent at the orthodontist.  I know, super patriotic.  Jacob and Zach both had long appointments, about an hour apart from each other.  In the afternoon we met up with the Benoits for some swimming and dinner.  It was a fun afternoon and we enjoyed making some new friends!

We are so thankful for the Benoits.  They are definitely our Texas "family" and I don't know what we'd do without them!

Steven & Sarah's Visit

My older brother Steven and his wife Sarah came for a quick visit from west Texas and we loved having them here.  Madelyn has grown so much since we saw them last summer.  Both Max & Madelyn loved getting Lucy's attention through the back door, although once she realized they weren't going to take her on a walk she quickly left.

It rained all morning, so we were really happy when there was a break for a couple of hours so we could go swimming.

Savannah & Madelyn are the only girls of the LeSueur grandkids, and they love to play together despite the age difference.

Thanks for the visit LeSueur family!

First Judo Tournament

Jacob's sensei put together a tournament for their judo club that included two other clubs from the area.  Jacob enjoyed the experience and is excited to do it again.  From my point of view judo is a lot like wrestling, just with more clothes and some cool throws.
He won his first match and was very happy about it.  His second match was against a blue belt and he lost, but put up a good effort.

Jacob won 2nd place in his division.

He is an amazing role model for them and great with the kids.

Award Ceremony & Choir Concert

Jacob had an awards ceremony at Ridgeview on Monday, May 20.  He received an award for being on the honor roll with distinction.  I think that means he got all A's and is maybe in the top 5% or 10% of his class, I can't quite remember.  I do know that he had straight A's, and we're very proud of him!

Jacob's choir concert was the next day.  They did a bunch of songs and rotated all around the stage.

We let Connor bring a snake book to keep him occupied if he needed it.  I looked over during the concert to see him just smiling down at his book.

After the first concert of the year we decided that Landon was banned from attending concerts for the rest of the year.  A friend in our neighborhood watched him for every concert for us, so that we could actually enjoy them.  Thanks Julie!

Wellness Day

Landon and I went to the kids' Wellness Day (a fun outdoor field day) for a couple of hours.  Connor has gone for years to watch his siblings, so he was very excited to finally participate.  When we got there he was playing tennis, but they had to stop early because someone in his class got hit in the head with a racquet or something.

Tough guy Connor showing his muscles

Zach was not too excited to have my with him, so I took one quick picture and went back to the other kids.
Landon loved the fire truck that was there visiting
