Deleting Pictures

I finally reached my limit of free picture space on blogger.  Being the cheap person I am I decided that rather than pay $2.50 every month for more storage I will delete the pictures in my Picasa account from past years.  Every year I put our entire blog into a word document, so it's all saved and everything.  But here is my question...should I delete all of my posts from those years (2008-June 2009) or leave all of the words with weird black spots where the pictures were.  I think I'd rather just delete it, since I don't think anyone ever goes back that far to look at it.  But I'm curious what you other bloggers (or Mom) thinks...

Pizzaria

Connor's preschool went on a field trip to Cici's Pizza this morning.  They were really great at talking on the kids' level and keeping it simple for them.  First we went into the walk-in fridge, but I was holding Landon and didn't get a picture of all of the kids (and moms) shivering in there.  Then they watched the guy use the dough press to flatten it out and make holes.

 The kids told him all the toppings that you put on pizza.

 Then they made their own!

 

 When the guy handed Landon the bowl of cheese to add some to his pizza he swiftly put a handful in his mouth.  I decided he was done.

 The finished product!  Connor was so proud of himself.

Roller Skating Style

Last Friday our new neighbor friends from across the street came over to see if the kids wanted to roller skate with them.  I've been collecting roller skates in various sizes from yard sales over the last couple of years, but the kids haven't been all that interested in using them.  I had actually given one pair to Lily when I saw her wearing her dad's skates a couple of weeks ago, since we had 2 pairs in that size.  Well they're finally interested, and had so much fun they went out for a couple more hours on Saturday!  Connor was hilarious in these huge, clunky toddler skates.  He was so proud to be up and "skating," which basically consisted of walking all around in these things.  He kept saying over and over again "I'm roller skating STYLE!"  Whatever that means.

 We had one pair of roller blades that finally fit Jacob and he did great in them!  They had a roller blade unit in P.E. last year and actually does better on the roller blades than on his skates.  So Zach used his skates, but only lasted for a few minutes before he gave up and hopped on his scooter.

 Lily is in the background of this picture and actually broke her wrist a couple of days ago doing guess what...roller skating.

 Savannah's skates have pretty tight wheels or something because they're not too slippery.  But that works great for her since she's just learning.

 Jacob even got a few jumps in on his roller blades.

 

Boy Scout

Jacob had his first Boy Scout campout with the 11-year-old scouts last weekend.  Luckily Dallin was able to go with them and they just went up to Georgetown, which is only 20 or 30 minutes away.  It's nice to have good camping so close by.  He was so excited for it and had a great time.  His favorite part was sitting around the fire at night, which we haven't been able to do for a long time because of burn bans.  I took this picture right before he left.

 Of course he was so busy earning stuff and having fun that he forgot to take any pictures, so I took this one when they got back.  Happy, but exhausted.

Baby Chicks

Savannah's class had eggs in an incubator that hatched into baby chicks.  She loved watching the whole process and then holding them, so I couldn't say no when her teacher asked if we wanted to bring them home for the weekend.  Connor's two favorite animals in the world are snakes and baby chicks.  Funny combination, I know.  That lucky boy has gotten to have both come and stay at our house now. 

 Landon loved watching them run all around on the tile, but we mostly had to keep him away from them so he didn't accidentally step on them when we took them out.  After this first time when I took pictures we kept them in the laundry room, and that worked out much better.

 There were 8 of them, and the scrawny one had just hatched that morning.  The teacher threw in a couple of little stuffed animals that the chicks loved climbing over and laying on.

 Landon wanted to hold one so bad so I compromised by letting it climb on his legs.  He thought it was great.

 They loved cuddling up on all of the kids' laps and going to sleep.

 

 

 

 

 

 The kids kept an eye on them all while I cleaned out the bucket.  Those little chicks ate and pooped a ton!  I am happy we only had them for 3 days.  Savannah's class was supposed to take them to a farm on Monday for their field trip, but on Thursday they called the teacher and said they already had too many and couldn't take them.  I told her I'd try to find them a home, and I did!  A friend of mine just moved to a ranch and wanted to have some chickens, so she took them for us.  She even invited the kids to come out and see them when they get bigger.  Savannah is thrilled about that.  It was fun to have you chicks, but I'm glad the mess, noise and smell is gone.

 

Easter

 Being that Savannah's birthday was the same weekend, Easter was pretty low-key at our house this year.  We had our Easter Family Home Evening to talk about the spiritual side and the Easter Bunny came.  That was about it!  The kids did hide empty eggs all around the house for a couple of weeks and I still keep finding them in odd places.

 I noticed that morning that Savannah and I just happened to match.  She just got a bag of hand-me-down clothes from a friend with some dresses in it and I had just bought a new skirt.  Happy Easter!

Food

Having seven people in this house, we go through food pretty quick.  I know that it's only going to get worse as these kids get older, so I wanted to document for my journal some of the staples that we go through in one week.

*7-8 gallons of milk (we've actually cut back on that)
*2-3 large loaves of bread, along with other rolls/biscuits/etc.
*18 eggs
*3-4 boxes of cereal
*40 servings of yogurt
*lots of cheese, I can't even keep track
*finally eating about the same amounts of raw vegetables as cooked vegetables
*lots and lots of fruit - this week we have about 8 lbs. of grapes, 6 lbs. of strawberries, a large bag of apples (15?), applesauce, a large bag of pears, a large container of kiwi, 2 large bunches of bananas, a pineapple, and some oranges (and we'll probably go through it all in the next 6 days)

And that's just the basics.  I would be at the store now at least twice a week if it wasn't for having our second fridge/freezer, because it just wouldn't all fit.  A couple of years ago I thought how nice it would be if I could plan ahead and only go to the store once every two weeks.  Ha!  That will not be happening for many, many, many years.  But that's okay.  It's part of my job, and I love my job.  

Savannah 7th Birthday

Savannah had a GREAT birthday this year.  The whole day was packed with fun.  She woke up and opened her presents from us first.  She got a Barbie cash register (an old model that I found on Craigslist) and plays with it every day.

 She got lots of sparkly things too.  Her favorite is a little purse "diary."  She's already drawn and written in it lots.  After presents we went to a baptism for a little friend in our ward.  Savannah thought it was neat to be able to go to it on her birthday and is excited to be baptized next year when she turns 8.

 Savannah's best friend had a birthday a few days before hers.  They chose to spend the day together to celebrate their combined birthdays.  We went to Texas Roadhouse for a girl's lunch.  Savannah said the rolls were the best she's ever had..."even better than yours Mommy!"

 

 Then Erin treated them both to a manicure and pedicure.  Savannah has had her nails painted before, but never had a pedicure.  It was very cute to sit and watch them both giggling and picking their colors.

 

 

 Thanks to Pinterest I found some fun new ways to decorate for birthdays.  The kids love walking through it for the next week.  I would make it longer, but we have a Landon at our house.

 M came back to play for the afternoon.  They did lots of dancing on the Wii and played with Savannah's new toys.

 In the evening M's family came over for dinner.  They brought pizza and we had a cookie cake for the girls.  Savannah chose this specifically from Sam's Club, down to the colors and flowers.  I did the writing though.

 

 Then they opened presents from each other.

 Savannah got new pajamas, hair stuff, and "Dizzy Dancers," which are kind of like little girl Beyblades.

It was a fun day spent with our girl!  We love you so much Savannah!
